About the project: Step into the golden age of radio with "The 'Spirit of America' 1940s Radio Show," where a dynamic group of young performers brings to life the swinging spirit of the 1940s. Host Bub Hopeful anchors the evening with wit and warmth, guiding audiences through a cavalcade of big band tunes, spirited dance numbers, and the harmonious melodies of The Liberty Belles and The Swing Kings. As the cast reenacts lively jitterbug antics and poignant 'letters from home and overseas,' a playful studio "spirit" adds a touch of mystery with flickering lights and whimsical whimsy. This show is a heartfelt homage to the iconic music of the 1940s and the enduring American spirit. Celebrating the joy, resilience, and patriotism that united a nation, this immersive experience brings to life the songs that inspired hope and prosperity during a defining era. As America faced the challenges of World War II, this music became a vital source of strength, uplifting the nation's spirit and bolstering morale during a pivotal time in the 20th century. It takes place in a small 5000-watt radio station centered around a group of performers. The radio program is seen through the eyes of the audience who become the actual 1940s radio station audience. Additional info: Directors are going to have a blast this Summer dancing and singing and learning all about the incredible music of the 1930s and 1940s.
